In the opening to her book ππͺπ΄πͺπ―π¨ ππ΅π³π°π―π¨, Brene Brown wrote:
βThe thread that runs through all three of these books is our yearning to live a wholehearted life. I define wholehearted living as engaging in our lives from a place of worthiness. It means cultivating the courage, compassion, and connection to wake up in the morning and think, βNo matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I am enough. Itβs going to bed at night thinking, Yes, I am imperfect and vulnerable and sometimes afraid, but that doesnβt change the truth that I am brave and worthy of love and belonging.ββ
This immediately resonated. The meaning of Yes You is just that:
Yes You are worth investing in.
Yes You are worth a life designed by you, for you.
Yes You are worth unshakable confidence that comes from loving your body, your skin, and your life.
I meet so many people who stay stuck in the life they have been convinced to live rather than a life that brings them joy.
I meet even more people who donβt take 5 minutes to wash their face, or stretch, or eat a meal. It feels like there isnβt time or money. But what it comes down to is a sense that they arenβt worth investing in themselves.
You, yes you, are worth it. If you donβt invest in yourself, who will?
How to start?
Check out my tips on how to start improving your self-esteem and self-image.
Then pick something small youβve been wanting to treat yourself to. It could be as simple as a shower with no kids or pets clamoring for you to hurry. It could be a walk with a friend you havenβt seen in awhile. It could be a 5-minute face lift. It could be new jewelry.
You choose. What will remind you that
βYou yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.β (Buddha).
