Could a side gig keep you from burning out?

If your schedule already makes you feel like the exploding head emoji, you probably think that the last thing you have time for is a side gig. You’re stressed out enough, right? And isn’t the whole burning out thing related to overwork? Why take on more work?
Well, it’s not quite due to overwork. That’s why the right side gig might help you experience more joy, boost your energy, feel like you have more time and control over life, and all around improve your life satisfaction.
The right side gig can improve your confidence, sense of accomplishment, empowerment, and give you a community. It can help you hone personal and professional skills that spark innovation, and time management. It can teach you how to decrease perfectionism, and increase emotional intelligence. You will develop hard and soft skills that support your primary career goals.
All of this can help you experience more joy and happiness, which can help you better handle the bullshit of the daily grind. And could end up giving you an escape route out of that grind, if you want.
Ok, great. But what’s the right side gig? Is it the same as a second job? How much will it cost to start? With so many options, how do you know what to look for?
