Want to fall back in love with your life? Stop living someone else's. Tips from a wellness coach.

Have you ever felt like you just aren’t enough? Or like you’re stuck but you weren’t sure why?

Several years after college, I was dating a guy who ran up my cell phone bill. Texting was still pretty new and I hadn’t much gotten into it, preferring phone calls. He was a texter. When I got my cell phone bill after our first month of really seeing each other, long distance I might add, my jaw hit the floor.

I told him our texts had run up my bill and that maybe we should switch to phone calls. I said this with a laugh. I didn’t express what I wanted. I said it like it didn’t matter. I was too insecure to say what I needed because I wanted to be what he wanted and needed so he wouldn’t leave.

He made it clear that he didn’t do phone calls, only text. So what did I do? I change my cell phone plan and started paying for unlimited text messaging. Yes, you read that right. I change my cell phone plan to accommodate a guy instead of standing up for what I wanted, owning who I was and the way in which I preferred to be communicated with by someone I was seeing.

We do this all the time, women and men. Faith Hill even had a song about this called, Someone Else’s Dream.

We far too frequently change who we are and start living someone else’s dream. Their dream for themselves or their dream for us, because we don’t know how to own our truth or we aren’t sure we even know what our truth is. (ps if you want the video version, click here)

When we don’t stand in our truth, it diminishes our happiness. It holds us back from earning everything we could possibly earn financially and otherwise. It decreases our health and longevity and prevents us from discovering who we truly are. It prevents us from discovering who we are meant to become.

It’s also why you wake up most days feeling “meh” instead of excited, on fire, and ready to kick ass in life. Why would you, your life isn’t your own.

But it can be.

If you’re looking for a way to wake up every day excited to jump into your day and live a life that sets your heart on fire, you have to know who you are, the life you want to live for yourself, and be confident enough to own it.

Do not let other people run your life. Let your dreams run your life. If you aren’t sure what those dreams are, reach out and let me know. Helping people discover what lights their souls on fire is my jam. Especially, single, high-achieving businesswomen. As a holistic wellness coach, I use every dimension of life to help you check the boxes of vanity, sanity, longevity, and fulfillment.
