“How Sleep Affects Energy Balance” Layne Norton
Norton sums up what we know now about how sleep affects your energy balance. For example:
A recent study comparing dieters who got 8 hours of sleep per night vs 5 hours of sleep per night. Both groups lost about the same amount of weight, yet the group that got 5 hours of sleep, lost 50% of their weight from lean mass. The group that got 8 hours of sleep lost almost all their weight from fat mass.
Norton goes into this and more. Check it out here:
“How Having a Health Coach Improves Mental Wellness” ACE
Dr. Erin Nitschke, writing for the American Council on Exercise, reviews an often overlooked role of the Health Coach. Mental support and boosting “mental wellness” of clients.
“The client-centered health coaching process allows clients to deeply examine the intricacies of their behaviors and determine whether these behaviors contribute to or detract from their overall state of wellness. As the process evolves, clients develop a greater sense of who they are, why they make certain choices and how their daily choices can lead to an improved state of mental and physical wellbeing.”
"Sleep is the golden chain that ties health and our bodies together."
