Here are the two “Bests” of what I’ve read/watched/heard this week in the field of wellness, to help you stop surviving and start thriving.
I filter, so you don’t have to. Need help applying this info? Drop me a line!By 2030 nearly 1 in 2 adults will have obesity.
1. Researchers predict that in 10 years, no US state will have an obesity level below 35%, a rate considered high.
Twenty-nine states will have a rate above 50%. And nearly 1 in 4 US adults is projected to have severe obesity by 2030.
“Our analysis indicates that the prevalence of adult obesity and severe obesity will continue to increase nationwide.”
Their findings also indicate disparities among race, gender, and income. Severe obesity is likely to become the most common BMI category for women, non-Hispanic black adults, and low-income adults, they said.

2. Ultra-Processed Foods Associated With Type 2 Diabetes Risk.
Researchers found, independent of other factors, a diet high in ultra-processed foods is associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes. Such a diet has already been shown to be associated with increased risks of all-cause mortality, as well as chronic diseases, such as: certain cancers; cardiovascular diseases; hypertension; and dyslipidemia (high levels of fat in the blood).
Examples of ultra-processed foods include: sugar sweetened beverages; cookies; pastries; fried foods; energy drinks; and processed meats.
